Gasification - The Future of Power Generation

2002 Gasification Technology Conference
San Francisco, California, USA
28 Oct 2002

Ferguson, Brian (Eastman Gasification Services)

Clean-Energy.us Summary

A keynote speech presented at the gasification industry's premiere technical conference in 2002 by J. Brian Ferguson, CEO of Eastman Chemical Company. Ferguson outlines the reasons why his company believes that coal gasification and IGCC are the "future" of electric power production in America.

Ferguson draws upon Eastman's two decades of experience producing chemicals from coal through gasification. Eastman feels strongly that its coal gasification experience can be of benefit to electric power producers that the company has formed a subsidiary -- Eastman Gasification Services. Ferguson goes on to make the case that coal-based IGCC facilities can operate reliably and efficiently and that the technology offers many environmental benefits.
