States that in 2004 there were: (1) 117 operating plants; (2) 385 gasifiers; (3) 45,925 MWth of capacity; (4) feedstock breakdown of 49% coal and 36% petroleum residuals; (5) product breakdown 42% chemicals, 36% FT liquids, 19% electric power; and (6) growth forecast of 5% per year.

Includes four useful charts: (1) world gasification capacity growth; (2) geographical distribution of world gasification capacity; (3) feedstock distribution of world gasification capacity; and (4) product distribution of world gasification capacity.
