Clean-Energy.us Summary

Technical paper examining the potential to convert natural gas power plants to coal-based IGCC. Estimates that there are approximately 22 GE "F" turbine natural gas combined cycle powerplants at 16 sites that could be converted to coal-based IGCC. States that the principal limiting factor is proximity to a cost-effective coal supply, but other factors such as inadequate plant space and crowded equipment layouts may also come into play. Estimates that conversions could take approximately four years (excluding permitting).
