Polk

Tampa Electric's Polk Power Station has been producing electricity since 1996.

The Polk Power Station is a 250 MWe, state-of-the-art integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) power plant that was partially funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The facility began demonstration operations in the fall of 1996. TECO Power Services provided project management expertise during construction and aided in start-up operations. On October 1, 2001, the project began commercial operation and operational responsibilities were transferred to Tampa Electric Company.
